About Us
Founded in 1984, Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home is a government-supported children's home located on the outskirts of Kisarazu-City in Chiba prefecture, Japan. It has provided a secure, home-like environment for hundreds of Japanese and non-Japanese children who are the victims of child abuse, neglect and other inhumane treatment.

"Nonohana" means "wild flower" in Japanese. It is our wish to see the children grow up to be the strong and beautiful wild flowers, overcoming life's challenges.

The facility currently accommodates approximately 40 children aged 2-18, divided into 4 small-group units. Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home acts as the children's second home, with each unit providing a warm, secure, family condition.

Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home also includes children from around the world such as Colombia, Kenya, Mexico, the Philippines and Thailand. By living together in such a multi-cultural community, the children of Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home learn the similarities and differences of other cultures.

The group's effort and contribution to the promotion of children' welfare were recognized and awarded by UNESCO (a division of the UN) as well as by the Prime Minister of Japan and the Emperor of Japan.

Ms. Misao Hanazaki, the founder and Director of Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home, also serves as the Executive Director of Friendship Asia House Cosmos ("FAH Cosmos"), a temporary shelter mainly serving unwed non-Japanese mothers with half-Japanese children.
