Misao Hanazaki, Founder and Director

Born in Chiba prefecture, Japan. B.A. in English Literature, Komazawa University. Attended courses at the Dept. of Special Education, Tokyo Educational University. (2 yrs.).

1967 - 1969
Publicist, Fuji Welfare Foundation, Tokyo, Japan
Worked as an editor for "Volunteer" magazine. Founded and ran "Volunteer School".

1969 - 1971
Social Worker, Pestarocci International Children's Home,
Switzerland
Worked as a visiting staff member at an international children's home located in the outskirts of Zurich, Switzerland

1971 - 1981
OTA staff, Japanese Association of Psychiatric Hospitals, Tokyo, Japan

1981
Became a foster parent for several Vietnamese refugees.
Advocated for creating a political asylum in Japan.

1984 - present
Lecturer, Sunshine College, Tokyo, Japan (a prominent Japanese university specializing in social work)

1985 - present
Founder and Director, Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home in Kisarazu, Chiba, Japan

1991 - present
Founder and Director, Friendship Asia House Cosmos, an asylum for unwed Non-Japanese mothers and their children. A sister organization to Nonohana-no-ie under Ichiryu-kai.

1993
Received award from UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Kisarazu-city branch for promoting cross-cultural communications.

1994
Received award from the Foreign Minister of Japan for promoting foreign diplomacy by fostering refugees from Vietnam and other countries.

1995
Received award from the Prime Minister of Japan for foreign diplomacy by fostering refugees from Vietnam and other countries.


Masaki Togami, Assistant Director
"It's been a constant challenge to rise up to the expectations of our superintendent, Ms. Hanazaki. I feel very happy being with our wonderful children and playing soccer. My motto? 'Never give up!' ".


[ Group 1 -- "Friendly" Group ]

Chinatsu Furuyama, Staff
A veteran social worker with ten years of experience. Loves children, plants, and flowers. Heads the "Friendly" group, taking care of her fellow staff and the children with great leadership skills.

Mitsutaka Nakao, Staff
Entering into his seventh year at Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home, his calm and gentle manner is therapeutic and comforting to the other staff members. This Mr. Paul Banyan look-alike is also known as a do-it-yourselfer.

Noriko Osaka, Staff
She strives to do her best and gain more experience in her second year at Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home. Her fellow staff and the children appreciate and support her efforts.

[ Group 2 -- "Big Sky" Group ]

Hatsumi Sakamoto,
"It's been fourteen years since I joined Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home. Bearing my favorite nickname of 'Mama Maru-san', I still enjoy working for the children despite feeling a bit of a decline in my physical strength."

Kota Nakayasu, Staff
"Marking my fourth year here at Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home. Utilizing my experience in playing soccer as a goalkeeper, I'd like to work towards becoming the goalie at Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home as well."

Asako Kudo, Staff
"Can't believe it's already been my third year here at Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home. Time flies! Though sometimes I feel like I‰m almost reaching my physical limit, the children keep me going by cheering me up with my nickname, 'Kudo-pon!' ".

[ Group 3 -- "Horsetail" Group ]

Kazue Takahashi, Staff
A mother figure to the group, nicknamed "Chi-chan". She is always smiling and making everyone feel happy.

Makoto Ehara, Staff
A father figure to the group, the deputy chief helps the children not only with studying and sports activities, but also housekeeping matters (cleaning, washing). He is also a big-time dog-lover.

Mika Yamazaki, Staff
The third-year veteran provides useful advice on trendy hairstyles and fashion like a cool older sister to the children. Also a big fan of David Beckham.

[ Group 4 -- "Hope" Group ]

Seiko Baba, Staff
A native of Kisarazu, her childhood dream of becoming a social worker came true when she secured a position at Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home. Her dedication to working with children deserves special recognition.

Marika Kozuka, Staff
After graduating from college, she swiftly adapted her life style toward working with children. She likes playing basketball and discovering cool cafes.

[ Group 5 -- "Wing" Group ]

Masao Udagawa
His initial goal of opening his own motorcycle shop soon changed after working with loving children at Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home. He likes fishing and going to parks with the children.

Yukie Nomura, Chef
In her tenth year working for Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home, she welcomes children with her signature smile.

Shizue Nakamura, Chef
One of the original staff of Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home, she is a reliable motherly figure.

Sue Obara, Chef
A master chef and a great life advisor to the fellow staff members. She is a former gardener.

Takuya Kimura, Chef and Nutritionist
Arranges the menu items based on nutritional calculations. Has a gentle manner and is popular among the children.

[ Administrative Staff ]

Tomiko Kobayasi, Administrative Staff/Head of Accounting
Otherwise known as the Treasury Department at Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home. There's always someone great like her working behind the scenes at every successful operation.

Yuki Matsuzaki, Administrative Staff
An experienced social worker makes sure to make a great first impression about Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home when corresponding with visitors and outside callers.
