1984
Misao Hanazaki founded Ichiryu-kai (the parent organization of Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home), a non-profit organization dedicated to the needs of children without adequate parental support.
1985
Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home opened with Ms. Misao Hanazaki as Director. The facility was a pioneer in accepting Japanese and non-Japanese children, acting as one of the first true international children's homes. It also implemented the small group-unit system for the purpose of providing the children a warm, secure, home-like environment.
1989 Home stay program started.
1991 Friendship Asia House Cosmos (FAH Cosmos), an asylum for unwed non-Japanese mothers and their children. It is a sister organization to Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home under Ichiryu-kai.
1993 Misao Hanazaki received award from UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Kisarazu-city branch for promoting cross-cultural communications.
1994 Misao Hanazaki received award from the Foreign Minister of Japan for promoting foreign diplomacy by fostering refugees from Vietnam and other countries.
1995 Misao Hanazaki received award from the Prime Minister of Japan for foreign diplomacy by fostering refugees from Vietnam and other countries.
1999 Nonohana-no-ie Children's Home received special recognition and financial support from the Emperor of Japan.
